Field Work > Past Digs > Goblestubbs
Goblestubbs Copse lies in dense woodland approximately 2km to the west of the town of Arundel. The nature of the woodland has, if the assumption is correct, been of such longevity that is has preserved archaeological features which would otherwise have been destroyed by agricultural practices. The woodland forms part of a larger wooded landscape which has been the subject of a number of surveys and excavations over the years. Previous excavations have found evidence of habitation in the early-mid Roman period, with some areas dated to the 1st century BC.
