Medieval Research Reading List
The focus of this reading list is settlement sites, primarily rural dispersed sites. However,
there are references for nucleated and larger settlements. Given the medieval economy was
primarily agriculture that is included in a separate section. There is also a separate section
for excavations, the source for this being mainly Sussex Archaeological Collections (SAC),
which are available online under ADS.
As a result of the study day held on early 2024, a separate section has been added to cover
Medieval Towns (especially Crawley, hopefully the subject of an article for the Journal).
